That's how Riley rolls.
So Riley learned how to roll. This should be a good thing, but as it is novel she is very excited to do it over and over. The one draw back is that she can't roll back and ends up her stomcah every 45 seconds if you leave her lying down. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but our special little flower HATES being on her stomach. So, picture the following, played out over and over and over: Place baby on a flat surface, baby rolls over, wait 5 seconds, baby screams at the top of her lungs, roll baby back over, wait 30 seconds, repeat previous steps. I think Riley is going to get a lot of jolly jumper time over the next few days.

New lessons
Riley learned a new trick this week, let's hope that its not because her jumper is positioned right next to the bathroom.

Riley's first meal
Its recommended that you wait until 6 months before you feed babies something other than formula or milk, but what do doctors know anyway? Riley has been watching us eat for a couple of weeks now and we figured that nothing magical happens at 6 months where she can suddenly deal with food that was undigestible only two weeks before. So, at 5 and a half months, we mixed up some rice cereal - only the most benign substance know to man - and decided to give it a try. To our surprise, Riley opened her mouth at the sight of incoming food and took to the new substance with no problem. In fact, she ate the whole bowl we had mixed up. In no time her face was covered in ricey goodness and the whole thing was gone. Next up, a cheese burger.

Long hiatus
Sorry for the long delay in posting. The move went well and we have been settling in to our new place in Rhode Island. We have been all over the place in the last couple of weeks, between buying a new car, moving everything in, getting things in the office in place and fitting in a quick trip to Bay Head, NJ. Through it all Riley has been a trooper, and other than throwing up all over me today during our visit to Jen and Jon's place in Greenwich, she has kept smiling through everything - even 21 relatives in one beach house yesterday. We'll be making more entries over the next couple of days, now that we are starting to get into a bit more of a routine. Stay tuned.
